Abstract (English)

Climate change refers to the transformation of climate that is directly or indirectly caused by human activities on earth. Global climate change has become one of the visible environmental concerns of the 21st century. Climate change, as one of the most important challenges of the present era, inflicts significant harm on the realization of human rights. The question this research seeks to answer is: What impacts does climate change have on the right to a healthy environment? The purpose of the present study is to explain the effects of climate change on the right to a healthy environment. Using a descriptive–analytical method based on library sources, this article examines in-depth and carefully the various dimensions of the topic from a legal perspective. The findings of this research indicate that climate change has caused adverse effects and consequences such as global warming, desertification, drought, flooding, dust storms, air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, and others. These consequences violate the human right to a healthy environment, which has been emphasized in numerous international documents and conferences such as the Aarhus Convention, the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights, and the European Convention on Human Rights, thereby endangering human life.
