Abstract (English)

Diplomacy is one of the fundamental instruments for achieving political, social, and religious objectives in various global arenas, and its significance in Islam has been clearly evident since the very beginning of the prophetic mission of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). With a profound understanding of the role of diplomacy, the Prophet of Islam employed it as an effective means for the dissemination of the message of monotheism, the promotion of social cohesion, and the establishment of the foundations of the Islamic state. Even under the severe pressures and constant surveillance imposed by the polytheists of Mecca, the Prophet made strategic use of both public and discreet dialogues with various tribes and groups during the pilgrimage seasons. These efforts ultimately led to the Pledges of al-ʿAqabah, the migration (Hijrah) to Medina, and the formation of the first Islamic polity.The purpose of this study is to examine the status and role of diplomacy during the period of the Prophetic mission and governance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and to analyze its impact on the expansion of Islam. The main research question of this study is: How did the diplomacy of the Prophet of Islam contribute to the establishment of the Islamic state and the spread of Islam? This research adopts a descriptive– analytical methodology and relies on authoritative historical and analytical sources to explore the Prophet’s diplomatic approaches in engaging with tribes, resolving social conflicts, and establishing external relations with various states and nations. The findings of the study indicate that the diplomacy of the Prophet Muhammad was grounded in principles such as peace-oriented engagement, constructive dialogue, justice, and pragmatic consideration of public interest. These principles played a decisive role in consolidating the Islamic government and promoting the expansion of Islam. The study concludes that the Prophetic model of diplomacy can serve, even in the contemporary world, as an effective strategic framework for managing both domestic and foreign relations within Islamic societies.
